Foto-plession is a stage essay on dance and photography, on traces left by their records, on elusiveness and discovering the hidden, on subjective interpretations, on relentless melting of time, on pseudo presence and the signs of absence.
By confrontation of two media, dance and photography, I have discovered moments in which interesting performing solutions are created by using the „weaknesses“ of each of the media, such as the problem of elusiveness of movement in photography and, at the same time, the superiority of the photographic projection as compared to a simultaneous live performance. Dancers create choreographic material based on a photographer’s propositions, while the photographer reveals to the audience what they cannot see, either due to the sluggishness of an eye or the view angle. Continuous interaction, encounters and interfering, of the two media create an unconventional and vivid scenic form in which an audience has the roll of an active observer.
