NOTHING
2010.

‘To stand still is harder than to move’, wrote Moshe Feldenkrais, and indeed, as I focused on moments when nothing seemed to happen, I relived the moment when I first looked through a microscope and discovered so many things that exist yet are apparently invisible.
Nothing is not nothing, especially if the performers on stage are there to search for ‘nothing’. In this project, ‘nothing’ is a quality of the state of a dancer’s body: it can engender movement at any moment and the quality and potency of movement is achieved when it can revert to the ‘zero quality’ at any time, touching the fullness, density and tension of the seemingly banal, empty ‘nothing’.
