Our appearance, defined largely by the clothes we wear, not only plays an important role in superficial, everyday communication but it influences our physicality to a large extent.
All dance materials for this performance had a common starting point, and this was garments. In everyday life there are very strict dress codes, in private as well as in public. But what happens with them when one dancer starts treating her clothes and its particular quality as purely an inspiration for movement or when dancer’s bodies start animating clothes giving it some different, unusual meaning?
Garments dressed in unusual way transform human bodies in abstract forms or in some unexisting creatures that, because of imposed restrictions, move in a very specific way.
This piece was inspired by the work of conceptual artist Erwin Wurm.
